The Meaning of Memorial Day ❤️🇺🇸

Memorial Day weekend often arrives with sunshine ☀️, cookouts 🍔, lake days 🚤, and the unofficial start of summer. Flags wave proudly from front porches 🇺🇸, families gather together, and neighborhoods feel alive again after a long winter season.

But before the burgers hit the grill and before we settle into the comfort of another long weekend, it’s important to pause and remember what Memorial Day truly means.

- Memorial Day is not a celebration of our military. 
- Armed Forces Day is the celebration honoring those who are currently serving our great county.
- Veterans Day honors those who have served our county in the past.
Memorial Day is a sacred and solemn time, a national pause to reflect on the courage of those who never made it home. It is a day to remember the legacy of our fallen heroes and ensure their ultimate sacrifice is never forgotten. 🇺🇸

As a military wife and mom this hits close to home. I know that behind every fallen hero is a family forever changed. Spouses who have to carry on. Children left with only memories and photographs instead of moments. Loved ones carrying the pain of a loss that will never truly fade. 🤍 Please also remember them. 🤍
Freedom has never been free.

The simple freedoms we often take for granted:
🏡 a home filled with peace
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 family gathered around the table
🎆 holidays celebrated freely
🇺🇸 the ability to live openly and safely

...exist because someone stood willing to defend them at great sacrifice.

This Memorial Day, may we pause to remember:
⭐ the soldiers who never made it home
⭐ the families who continue carrying that loss every day
⭐ and the incredible price paid for the freedoms we enjoy

As you gather with loved ones this weekend, may gratitude sit quietly beside you at the table.
